We came to Lexington in 1992 searching for an old house. We found one, but we
also discovered much more. Founded in 1822, Lexington has a rich history which
includes the Santa Fe Trail, steam boating on the Missouri River and an historic
Civil War battle. Combined with the wealth of antebellum architecture and
friendly people, this scenic town and our 1843 Greek Revival house made us feel
we had really come
home.
We were also impressed
with the quality of educational opportunities (an Accredited with Distinction
public school system as well as Wentworth Military Academy, which now offers a
four year college program); the level of medical care (Lafayette Regional Health
Center and numerous medical professionals serve the area); and shopping, dining
and recreational activities. We were delighted to become part of a thriving
community that welcomes thousands of visitors each year to visit its historic
sites, attend special events and enjoy stepping back in time.
